Overview:
Setting up menu items in QRkey Systems is a
crucial step in offering a delightful dining experience to your customers. This
guide provides a detailed walkthrough of the menu item creation process,
including mandatory fields, optional details, best practices, and their impact
on your restaurant operations.
Segment: Menu Item Setup
Dish Name (Mandatory):
Enter the name of the menu item. This is a
required field.
Dish Display Name (Mandatory):
This is how your items will appear on
consumer ordering platforms and aggregator platforms.
Item Description (Optional, max 250
characters):
Provide a brief description of the menu
item, with a minimum length of 5 characters and a maximum of 250 characters.
Item Code (Mandatory):
Assign a short code for quick search during
live operations.
Base Price of the Item (Mandatory):
While not the actual applied price, this
base price is crucial for billing activities. Applied prices are configured under
the pricing & discount management settings.
Serves (Mandatory):
Categorize the number of people one portion
of this dish serves. Insert 0 if not applicable.
Menu Category (Mandatory):
Select the applicable menu category. Items
cannot be mapped under parent categories with existing subcategories.
Subcategories should be selected for such instances.
Cuisine (Mandatory):
Choose the relevant cuisine for the menu
item.
Item Type (Mandatory):
Define the item's type (e.g., veg,
non-veg).
Price as per Size (Optional):
Applicable only when the selling price of
an item cannot be predefined and is assigned during ordering. Such items won't
be displayed on customer interfaces or aggregator platforms.
Customizable (Optional):
Respond "yes" if the menu item
has custom products or add-ons.
Image (Optional, crop to resize):
Upload an image of the menu item. Resizing
within QRkey Systems ensures compliance with aggregator platforms (e.g.,
400x400 Px Image size).
Show Image in App (Mandatory):
Confirm if the uploaded image should be
displayed in the customer interface.
Entity Timing Group (Optional):
Select when a product-level timing group is
necessary. Timing groups define when a particular menu category is available
for ordering during the day.
Sort Order (Mandatory):
Assign a sequence for listing the menu
item. Lower sequence numbers prioritize higher listing.
Consider as Inventory (Mandatory):
Respond "yes" only if you want to
create a simultaneous inventory item with the same name. Mark “No” if not.
Consumed From (Mandatory):
Select the inventory item from which this
menu item is consumed. Use this only when both the menu item and inventory item
are exactly the same (e.g., Coke 600 ml).
Quantity Consumed (Mandatory):
Should be “0” unless the menu item and the
inventory item consumed are exactly the same (e.g., Insert 1 for Coke 600 ml).
Best Practices:
Use clear and descriptive dish names and
display names.
Keep item codes short and easy to remember.
Set base prices consistently with your
pricing strategy.
Utilize high-quality images for better
presentation.
Ensure accurate categorization for
efficient menu navigation.
Conclusion:
Creating menu items in QRkey Systems requires careful consideration of mandatory fields and optional details. By providing accurate and enticing information, you can enhance the customer ordering experience and streamline your restaurant operations.
